Excel 2007 Notes



1. What’s new
·         Alt key shows Menu
·         Low resolution changes views
·         Office Button - Compatible checker, Proofing, Digital Sigs
·         Ribbon Review – arranged left to right for daily usage
·         Customize toolbar
·         Tabs, Groups, Galleries, Contextual menus
·         Original Office had 300 menu items, now 1,500
·         Resizable formula bar  
·          New cube functions are used to extract OLAP data (sets and values) from Analysis Services and display it in a cell.

2. Excel Highlights
·         Excel has now over 1.4Million rows and 16,000 Columns
·         Pivot table simplified and RAM usage
·         Page layout Mode (bottom right)
·         Switch between sheets – CNTL + PGDN
·         Add headers easily, reduce white space
·         Home/Cells/Format – overall options
·         Format as Table
3. Format at table
·         Long spreadsheets now show column headings
·         Create a new column  add equation with square bracket [
·         Data Tab/Sort and Filter
·         Conditional Formatting – Data bars  (just hover over it)
·         Select column/Rules/Greater than…sort by colour
4. Pivot Table
·         Insert/Pivot Table
·         Pivot table chart
·         If lost Lists, use Analysis
5. Graphs
6. Save as PDF
·         Office Button/Save As.  Download from office.microsoft.com
·         Save as Binary
